Examples:

 

Positive:                 No other player in the team is as good as he.

Comparative:        He is better than any other player in the team.

Superlative:           He is the best player in the team.

 

Positive:                 Very few students are so good as Abdullah.
Comparative:        Abdullah is better than most other students.

Superlative:           Abdullah is one of the best  students.

 

Positive:                  He is as good as his brother
Comparative:         His brother is not better than he.

 

Positive:                  He is not as good as his brother
Comparative:         His brother is  better than he.

 

Positive:                   He is as brutal as you

Comparative:          He is not less brutal than you.

 

Positive:                   He is not as strong as I.

Comparative:          He is less strong than I.

Ø Nomanative case after than.

Ø Omit of all/ of any of  Superlative in positive but in comparative use,

     of all----- than all other,          

     of any----than  any other.

Examples:

It burns the prettiest  of any wood----No other wood burns so pretty as it.

Rahim is the noblest man of all men--Rahim is nobler than all other men.

Akbar is the greatest of all kings---Akbar is greater than all other kings

But..               

He is  taller than all other boys.

He is the tallest of all boys.
